Course Overview

This course is designed for domestic students with different academic, cultural, personal, and working backgrounds who may or may not have prior experience of working in the Building and Construction sector but have a desire to be engaged in learning with the aim of gaining an industry recognised qualification leading to employment within the Building and Construction Industry. The students will be working full time (according to industry feedback), so the convenience and duration of the online structured training hours is designed to accommodate their working commitments too.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be 18 + with Year 10 (or equivalent), attend an entry interview, show ACSF Level 3 LLND skills in a pre-course test, and ideally have related training or work experience.

Additional Requirements

Completion of a General Construction Induction Training (White Card) course from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) before visiting a construction work.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required when visiting a construction site. (Steel cap boots, Hard hat, High Vis and Glasses)

Assessment

Students are required to complete a minimum of 840 hours of Face to Face, 60 hours site visits and 360 hours of assessment and self-study. Students are also required to have access to

51 weeks (6 hours per week, scheduled over two x three-hour sessions over 42 weeks, minimum of 2 days per term for the 4 terms to carry out practical assessments, and 5 weeks term break).

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Students must obtain a USI before commencing the course. Northwood International College can assist with obtaining a USI.
