Course Overview

 This qualification reflects the role of building professionals who apply knowledge of structural principles, risk and financial management, estimating, preparing and administering building and construction contracts, selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality and managing construction work in building projects including residential and commercial with the following limitations:
• Residential construction limited to National Construction Code Class 1 and 10 buildings
to a maximum of 3 storeys.
• Commercial construction limited to National Construction Code Class 2 to 9 buildings,
Type C and B construction.

Course Entry Requirements

 Age Requirements:
All students must be 18 years of age to apply. Successful completion of the Application form and Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Test administered
by Northwood International College along with Pre-Training review is in place to
determine the suitability of the qualification and specific learning style.

Course Entry Requirements

Applicants must be at least 18 years old at course commencement. International students must meet English language requirements through one of the following: IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent; IELTS 5.0 with 10 weeks of ELICOS; IELTS 4.5 with 20 weeks of ELICOS; Pearson PTE Academic score of 42; Cambridge CAE; TOEFL paper-based score of 46–59; CELS Upper Intermediate certificate; completion of Year 12, Certificate IV or higher in Australia; or tertiary studies in English.

Additional Requirements

NIC will conduct LLN assessment on the orientation day to assessstudent’s Language, Literacy and Numeracy levels. LLN assessmentwill be conducted to identify the right level of support required bythe students. This support will enable them to completequalifications successfully in required time. This LLN assessment isnot a barrier to the entry in the course.

Students will be required to have white card before visiting theconstruction Site.

Duration

The course includes 76 weeks of training delivery, followed by 1 week allocated for final unit submission, assessment, catch-up, resubmissions, and sign-off. Additionally, students will participate in 2 weeks of site visits and receive 14 weeks of holidays, which include term breaks and the Christmas holiday period.
